# Quickstart

> Sign in to Whorl, connect Microsoft 365, start your first Thread and bring a teammate into it.

Source: https://docs.whorl.work/quickstart

This page takes you from your first sign-in to a Thread that you and a teammate work in together. It takes about ten minutes. Each step links to the page that covers it in full.

Whorl is invite-only for now. Someone at your company adds you, or your company lets everyone with its email domain join. If neither is true, sign-in ends on a page that says **Whorl is invite-only for now**. Ask someone at your company who uses Whorl to invite you.

1. Open Whorl in your browser.
2. Choose **Continue with Microsoft** to use your work account, or enter your email address to get a sign-in link.
3. If you used email, open the link in the same browser. A link works once and expires after 5 minutes. Choose **Resend link** if it has expired.

After you sign in, you work in a Space. A Space is where Threads, Captains, Notes and Files live. [How Whorl works](/how-whorl-works) explains Spaces.

## Connect Microsoft 365

Skip this step if your company does not use Microsoft 365.

Connecting lets Whorl agents read and write Mail, Calendar and Teams Conversations as you, with your own access and nothing more.

1. Open **Settings → Company → Integrations**.
2. Choose **Connect Microsoft 365** and sign in with Microsoft.
3. If your company needs an administrator to approve Whorl, the page says **Waiting for a Microsoft admin**. Choose **Copy link for IT** and send the link to your Microsoft administrator. An owner or admin sees **Approve as admin** instead.

Features that need approval stay off until it arrives. [Microsoft 365](/microsoft-365) lists what agents can reach.

## Start your first Thread

A [Thread](/threads) is one lasting conversation with an agent. You can leave it, and the agent keeps working.

1. Choose **New thread** in the sidebar. The shortcut is ⌘N on Mac and Alt+N on Windows and Linux.
2. Type what you want done in the message box. For example: "Summarize the three newest files in this folder and list what is missing."
3. Attach files with the attach button, using **Upload from computer** or **Choose from Files**. Use the folder picker to choose a folder of the Space for the Thread to work in.
4. Send the message.

The agent answers in the conversation. The **Digest** panel beside it shows what the agent is doing, what needs you and what it made. Files the agent makes are saved in the Thread's own folder in [Files](/files).

## Bring in a teammate

Everyone in a Space sees its Threads and can message them. To add someone to your Space:

1. Open **Spaces** in the sidebar and choose your Space. For your Company Space, open **Settings → Company → General** instead.
2. Choose **Add people**.
3. Search by name, or type a full email address.
4. Choose a role in **Add as**, then choose **Invite 1 person** (the button shows the number of people you picked).

Once they are in, send them the Thread's link, or mention them in the Thread with `@` and their full name. They see the Thread live, and they can message the agent in the same conversation. If you mention a teammate without asking the agent anything, Whorl sends your message to them as a note and does not start the agent.

[Members and invitations](/members) covers roles and who can join.

## Next steps

- Create a [Captain](/captains) for work that never ends, such as a support desk.
- Write a [Note](/notes) with your team.
- Teach every agent your house rules in [Instructions](/agents/instructions).
- Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) to search or run any command. See [Command center and search](/search).
