# Usage and insights

> See what agents finished, the hours they saved and what they made in Insights, and what agents cost in Usage, for you, a Space or the company.

Insights shows what agent work gets done. Usage shows what it costs. Both are in Settings, and a Space has its own Insights tab.

## Where to find them

## Insights

Choose a **Period**: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or **This cycle**. Insights then shows:

- **Highlights**: **Work handed off** and **Finished**, **Hours saved**, **People using it** and **Workdays using it**, **Agent hours** and **Things made**.
- **Work handed off and finished each day**, as a chart.
- **Kinds of work**: **Hours saved by kind of work**, such as **Proposals and SOWs**, **Email and messages**, **Meeting prep and notes**, **Research**, **Spreadsheets and budgets**, **Scheduling** and **Status reports**.
- **What came out**: the **Documents**, **Spreadsheets**, **Presentations**, **Other files**, **Notes**, **Emails sent**, **Meetings booked** and **Teams messages** agents made.
- **When agents work**: **Agent hours by weekday and hour**.

For the company, Insights also shows who has started. A person is **Not started**, uses agents **Now and then**, **Most weeks** or **Every workday**, and the page shows when **Everyone has started**.

### Hours saved is an estimate

**Hours saved** is **Estimated by a model**, not measured. After an agent finishes a piece of work, a model estimates the kind of work and the hours a person would have taken. While some work is still waiting for an estimate, the page says so, for example "Estimated, 3 still to estimate". Treat it as a guide to compare weeks and teams, not a precise total.

## Usage

Usage shows spend at list price, from Whorl's own records. Nothing is billed from this page.

- **Plan** shows what is **Included** and what goes **Over** it.
- **Spend** shows **Spend each day**, and breaks it down **By model**, **By Space**, **By person** and **By Captain**.
- The amounts split into **AI models** and **Environment**, the cost of the computers agents run on. See [Environments](/agents/environments).

If Whorl cannot reach billing, the page says so and still shows the spend from its own records.

## In a Thread or Captain

A Thread's Digest shows how long its work took, and its usage by model. A Captain's Digest shows its own **Usage** too. See [Threads](/threads) and [Captains](/captains).
