Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcuts are written for a Mac, with the key for Windows and Linux in the next column. On a Mac, ⌘ is Command, ⌥ is Option and ⇧ is Shift. On Windows and Linux, Ctrl takes the place of ⌘ and Alt takes the place of ⌥.

To see the list in Whorl, open the command center and choose Keyboard shortcuts, or open Settings → Shortcuts.

Jump to a sidebar item

Press ⌥P (Alt+P) and then a number from 1 to 9 to open that pinned item. ⌥C opens a Captain the same way, and ⌥T opens a Thread. Hold ⌥ (Alt) to see the numbers beside the sidebar rows.

In the desktop app, ⌘1 to ⌘9 switch to your first nine Spaces.

On the Calendar

When you are not typing, these single keys work on the Calendar page:

Change a shortcut

Open Settings → Shortcuts. It lists shortcuts under General, Go to and Writing, and the fixed ones under Jump. Use Search shortcuts to find one.

  • Change: click a shortcut. It reads Press keys…. Press the new keys, which must include ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows and Linux). Press Esc, or choose Stop recording, to cancel.
  • Turn off: use the row's Shortcut actions menu and choose Unassign. The row then reads Not set.
  • Reset one or all: use Reset on a row or Reset all.
  • If the new keys are already used by another action, Whorl asks first. Choose Use it here to give the keys to the new action.

Choose Save changes to keep your changes. Some keys belong to your computer or browser, such as copy, paste, quit and zoom, and Whorl will not let you use them.
