Activity and Requests
Activity is the one page that lists what needs a person's attention: mentions, Requests to you and updates on your work. When a Thread, Captain or Automation needs you, the item lands here.
Open Activity
Choose Activity in the sidebar, or press ⌥⌘1 (Alt+Ctrl+1 on Windows and Linux). Items you have not read are marked Unread. Choose Mark as read on an item, or Mark all as read at the top.
What shows up
| Event | When you see it |
|---|---|
| Mentions | Someone, or a Captain or Thread, wrote @ and your full name. |
| Requests | A person or Captain handed you work and expects an answer. |
| New messages | A new message in one of your Conversations. |
| Failed runs & timed-out waits | A run in one of your Threads failed, or something an agent was waiting on did not happen in time. |
| Paused automations | An Automation that runs as you paused itself. See Automations. |
| Permission approvals | A Microsoft 365 permission waits for your approval. See Microsoft 365. |
| File conflicts | Two edits to a file collided and Whorl kept both. |
| Event reminders and Event invitations | Calendar items. |
Agents notify a person only when their message tags that person as @ and their full name. A plain mention of a name does not notify anyone.
Filter
Use the filter bar to narrow the list.
- Type limits it to Conversations, Threads, Captains, Requests, Automations, Connections or Calendar.
- Status limits it to Waiting on you, Unread or Read.
- Event limits it to one kind of event, such as Mentions.
Waiting on you shows the items you must answer, such as Requests and permission approvals. They stay there until you act.
Requests
A Request hands work to a person or a Captain and tells the sender when it settles, even days later. A Request is offered, then accepted or declined, and ends completed, failed or cancelled. Along the way it can be in progress or blocked.
Requests reach you in Activity. Agents do not create Requests. To ask a person for something, an agent tags them in the Thread, and their reply wakes the agent. The app has no screen that creates a Request yet.
Notifications
Whorl alerts you while it is open in the app, in your browser and in the desktop app, with sounds. Open Settings → Preferences and use Notifications to choose what happens when a message arrives while Whorl is in the background. If your browser blocks notifications, Whorl says so and tells you to allow them in the browser's site settings.
Whorl does not send push notifications or email when it is closed.
