Experimental features

Some features are ready to try before they are finished. Whorl calls them experimental features. They are off until someone turns them on, they can change, and a few change how a whole company works.

There are two places to turn them on:

  • Settings → Experimental features is for you alone. It lists what you can switch on for yourself only, under Just for you.
  • Settings → Company → Experimental features is for owners and admins. It lists every experimental feature under For everyone, and a switch there turns a feature on for the whole company. Other members can read the page but not change it.

A feature that changes how the whole company works has no personal switch. It appears only on the company page, and your own choices do not apply to it.

If there is nothing to try, the personal page says Everything ready to try is already on for everyone. and the sidebar entry may be hidden.

Turn a feature on

  1. Open Settings → Experimental features, or Settings → Company → Experimental features as an owner or admin.
  2. Switch the feature on or off.
  3. Choose Save changes. You can also press ⌘Enter on Mac, or Ctrl+Enter elsewhere.

On the company page, the bar at the bottom says what will change for everyone at your company before you save.
