Mail shows your Outlook mailbox inside Whorl, so you can read a conversation, reply and send without leaving your work. It needs a connected Microsoft 365 account. See Microsoft 365.
Mail is in the sidebar. If your company runs Conversations and Calendar in Whorl without Microsoft 365, Mail is removed. See Microsoft 365.
Read your mail
The Mail page lists messages for the folder you pick. Inbox, Sent, Drafts and Archive are the quick folders, and the Folder control reaches the rest.
The list shows who the mail is From (or who it went to, in Sent), the Subject and when it was received or sent. Narrow it with the filters:
- Folder chooses the folder.
- Read status is All, Unread or Read.
- Attachments is All, With attachments or Without attachments.
Choose Clear filters to start over.
Open a message to read the whole conversation. Messages in a conversation come from Microsoft, oldest first, each in its own card. The message you opened is expanded, and you can open or close others. Long quoted history is hidden behind Show quoted text, and Hide quoted text puts it away. A message from outside your company shows an External badge beside the sender. Images from outside are blocked until you allow them.
Attachments appear under the message. Choose Download to save one.
Reply, forward and organize
On a message, use Reply, or the More menu for Reply all, Forward, Mark as read, Mark as unread, Archive (or Move to Inbox when it is already archived), Delete, Move to another folder and Copy link.
Choose New mail to write a message. Add recipients, with Add Cc and Add Bcc when you need them, then a subject and a message, and choose Send. A message you start and do not send waits in Drafts.
When a send is not confirmed
Whorl asks Microsoft to send, move or change a message. If Microsoft does not answer clearly, Whorl does not guess. It shows a notice such as Send not confirmed with "Whorl couldn't confirm this went through. Check Outlook before trying again." Check Sent in Outlook before you try again, so you do not send twice. Whorl never retries an unknown result on its own.
If Outlook refuses a change, for example because the message was already moved or deleted in Outlook, Whorl says so and shows what changed first. See Microsoft 365 for what Applied, Conflict and Needs review mean.
When Mail is out of date
- Syncing your mail appears while Whorl first loads your mailbox.
- Mail may be out of date appears when Whorl could not refresh. It keeps showing the last complete inbox.
- Mail sync failed means the refresh did not work. Choose Retry.
- If your Microsoft sign-in expired, reconnect in Settings → Company → Integrations.
Agents and your mail
An agent that works for you can read and send your mail, as you and with your access. Disconnecting Microsoft 365 stops that right away. A Captain's own email address is separate from your mail. See Captains.
